Moving to Australia

Moving to Australia can be a wonderful adventure. Once you’ve packed everything up, organised your car shipping and jumped on a plane, you’re ready to enjoy the magnificent landscapes of this beautiful country. From tropical islands to kangaroos, here are few things to look out for when moving to Australia.

Australians have a reputation for being exceptionally friendly and kind people, and are often used to meeting and welcoming people from other parts of the world. You might be surprised to hear just how many Australians have or have had a relative living outside of Australia. Statistics say that nearly half of all Australians today were either born overseas or have at least one parent who was born overseas.

So why move to Australia? What are the benefits?

Why Australia

The beaches, kangaroos, surfing and the hot weather. Australia is well known for having temperatures exceeding 30°C during the summer. The Aussies are partial to a good coffee (or something stronger!), very into their sports, and always up for a good chat.

When it comes to employment, Australia is very proud of its worker’s rights. They have some of the best working conditions in the world. On average, Australians work 40 hours per week, and their minimum wage is £17 per hour!

When renting a property down under, make sure the price is per month and not per week, as they are commonly advertised in Australia.

Choose The Best Car Shipping Method

Roll On / Roll Off car shipping. Using this method, all vehicles are either driven or towed on to the vessel via a ramp. Once the vehicles are on board, they will be strapped and shipped. A lot of customers choose this option because it is incredibly easy and not at all time consuming. Roll on/roll off car shipping is by far one of the cheapest methods. It is also faster as ships are usually loaded and turned around within a 24 hour period.

Container car shipping is still the preferred method of shipment, despite it being is a little more expensive. It is important to make sure you know your car’s length and width and order the correct type of container. The most common container sizes are 20′ for one car and 40’ for two cars.

Make sure that before you send your car on its journey, it has been thoroughly cleaned both inside and out to meet with AQIS high inspection standards.

Dealing with the Paper Work

The first document to organise when shipping your car to Australia should be your import permit into Australia. You need to be able to prove that you have permission to import your vehicle to the destination of your dreams.

Second to this, you need to have copies of the V5C (or title document) for the vehicle, a photo copy of your passport and the purchase invoice of the vehicle.

Our weekly services sail to Adelaide, Brisbane, Fremantle, Melbourne, Sydney & Tasmania by container services, whereas our roll on/roll off car shipping services sail to these destinations on a slightly less frequent service.
