The Flights

Air transport is often the most regulated of all the modes, stemming from the fact that airlines are often of national carrier stature and the subject of bilateral rights between two trading nations.  Within Europe, air transport has been liberated but the fixing of tariffs and other regulations continues in other parts of the world to a greater or lesser degree.
The two types of services provided by airlines are normally regular scheduled services or charter flights.  The scheduled services – either freighters or passenger aircraft with freight carried in the bellyholds – are normally flown by licensed IATA carriers, often with rates filed and approved by government regulatory bodies.
